SCRIPTURE READINGS: Ephesians 1:22-23; Psalm 91:13

Despite the authority given us as children of God, many Christians fear witches, wizards, demons and evil spirits. When Satan is mentioned, it sends shivers down their spine. However, God has put all things under the feet of Jesus.

The Word of God says that Jesus is the head of the church. The church is also the body of Christ. The feet are a part of the body. It is with the feet that we trample upon things. By implication, if Satan has been put under the feet of Jesus, then Satan is under the feet of the believer. In Christ, the believer has authority over Satan. This is a mystery which needs to be caught and understood by every believer.

Christians must not be afraid of the devil. The devil is a defeated foe and trembles at the feet of the believer who knows his or her position in Christ and exerts that authority. To maintain and exert this authority over the devil, nothing which belongs to him must be found in us. Our lives must be devoid of sin and reflect Christ.

Jesus while in the flesh rightly and boldly professed that the prince of this world comes but has nothing in Him. May that be your confession as well. The devil is aware that his time is almost up and is doing everything to cause believers to lose sight of the authority they have received. When we lose sight of this, the devil will have leeway and do whatever he wants to do.

Acknowledge that you have authority over Satan and pray as one with that authority.
