Theme: Understanding the Anointing /Beware of Men

Topic: Beware of Men – Overcoming the Balaam Spirit

Scripture Reading:
Revelation 2:12-17

Main Text
Nehemiah 13:2
Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.

As has already been discussed, the Balaam spirit employs a two-fold strategy, the curse and compromise. Conquering the Balaam spirit and its alliances involves taking certain radical actions. Our first assignment is to reverse the curse of Balaam. You can ask God to reverse “Balaam’s” curses. Also as a New Testament believer, you have the authority to personally bind and loose things spiritually. Whatsoever you bind on earth is bound in heaven and whatsoever you lose on earth is loosed in heaven (Matthew 18:18; Nehemiah 13:1-2). You have the power of attorney to reverse the curses “Balaam” seeks to put on you or others.

Secondly, in our bid to conquer the spirit of Balaam, we must be ready to kill or destroy “Balaam”. If “Balaam” refuses to repent he dies with God’s enemies. “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live” (Exodus 22:18). The Israelites waged war against the Midianites and their kings and slew Balaam with the sword in the process (Numbers 31:7-8). The sword is the equivalent in the physical realm of the power of God and His Word (Ephesians 6:17-18).

Jesus Christ is ruthless in dealing with the Balaam spirit and zealous in rewarding those who overcome the Balaam spirit (Revelations 2:12-17). Jesus commanded the Church in Pergamos to repent or else He would fight against them with the sword of His mouth. Jesus called it the place where satan dwelled because the idolatry was just too much. The sword of His mouth is doubtlessly the judgment of His mouth, which is conveyed in His Word. Who is on the Lord’s side? Pray, fight, be holy, resist the devil, be steadfast in faith, and reverse the curse (Exodus 32:26).

Prayer:
1. Pray the judgment of God upon every Balaam spirit working against your life, family, business or ministry.
2. Release the two-edged sword from your mouth against the spirit of Balaam.
