Theme: The Relevant Church

Topic: Choice Stone

Scripture Reading:
1 Corinthians 3:11-15

Main Text
1 Peter 2:5
Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

The Church is a deliberate act of construction by God. It is as firm as a solid ground and as dependable as a pillar. The apostle Paul told Timothy the Church is the pillar and ground of truth (1 Timothy 3:15-16). Every believer whom God has chosen to be part of the Body of Christ – through the exercising of his or her personal faith – is a choice stone. We have unique qualities that are given to us by the Holy Ghost through the new birth.

None of us called ourselves into the Kingdom. You don’t determine who else comes into the Kingdom of God just as you don’t choose who becomes your brother or sister in an earthly family. This knowledge should make us honour others in the Body of Christ and be thankful to God for choosing them. The lively stones God has placed in the spiritual house – the Church – must not corrupt themselves. God lays the foundation of Christ in everybody’s life but He uses men and women to add to that foundation (1 Corinthians 3:12-13).

The process of building the Church is not a light exercise of assembling building units. Jesus Christ is the builder of the Church. He builds it with lively stones and not cardboard. The Church Jesus Christ is building has several great qualities. One of the qualities of the Church is that it is a formidable structure that cannot be easily destroyed. Jesus said the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church.

Prayer:
1. Pray for the wisdom to properly locate yourself in the Body of Christ.
2. Pray that the Holy Ghost will give you the wisdom to build right.
