Month Theme: Giving and Receiving

Topic: Commend Those Who Give

Scripture Reading:

Mark 10:28-31; Philippians 4:10-23

Main Text:

Philippians 4:13-14

13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

14 Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.

The apostle Paul told the Philippians that they had done well by supporting him during his afflictions. The apostle was not ungrateful for the gifts the Philippians bestowed on him. It is wrong to think that because it is God who blesses us, we should ignore the efforts people make to supply our needs.

The apostle Paul had the custom of expressing his gratitude to the people who supported him. A typical example of this is his appreciation of Priscilla and Aquila for the help they gave him in the ministry (Romans 16:3-4). Paul commended Priscilla and Aquila for risking their lives for him. His attitude of gratitude made people help him.

Gratitude is the gravitational force that brings more gifts and further assistance into your life. If you are thankful for what people give you, they are likely to give you more.

1. Pray and ask for forgiveness, if you missed out on being grateful to someone who was a blessing to you.

2. Pray also for a better heart of gratitude.
