Month Theme: Purpose and Divine Assistance

Topic: Fight for your People

Scripture Reading:

Psalm 18:29-50; 1 Samuel 30:6-18

Main Text:

1 Samuel 30:8

8 And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.

David was courageous in responding to God’s command to pursue the enemy. His penchant for attacking his enemies is well described in Psalm 18. He ran through the troops and leaped over walls. He struck his enemies down and destroyed them. David was a prevailer.

Jesus Christ set the example for prevailers by refusing to allow satan to have Peter when he sought to sift him like wheat. He prayed for the apostle so his faith would not fail (Luke 22:31-32). We must stop the devil from destroying the people in our fold by using the weapon of prevailing prayer.

It is common for satan to enter a family or ministry and tempt good people to act in strange ways. Many leaders get frustrated and allow the devil to carry these erring individuals away. A good leader fights for his or her people through intercession, counselling and correction – he wins them back when the devil takes them away.

Pray for the courage and strength to fight for yourself and your ministry, family, business, etc.
