And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of hosts.
Today, we have many devourers like those who use witchcraft and human manipulation to destroy God’s people. Internet fraud, identity theft and armed robbery are the activities of devourers. God delivers us from the spiritual activities of devourers like demons and evil people (Matthew 6:13). When God rebukes the devourer three things happen:
1. Fruitfulness 2. Preservation 3. Blessing.
Malachi told the people of Israel that if they brought their tithes and offerings to God’s house, He would rebuke the devourer not to destroy the fruits of their ground. In other words, the seeds they sowed would fulfil their potential. Bringing the tithes and offerings into God’s house would ensure that their vine did not cast its fruit before the time in the field. This means the fruit of their labour would not perish – their businesses would mature and bear fruit.
Jacob was a tither who experienced the favour of God rebuking the devourer for his sake. On his journey to Haran, he vowed to give God a tithe of everything he received. I have every cause to believe that he kept his promise (Genesis 28:20-22). God honoured His side of the bargain by making Jacob fruitful and preserving the fruit of his labour. His uncle Laban’s animals multiplied under his care because God blessed him(Genesis 30:29-30). May God make you fruitful, preserve you, and pour you out a blessing.
1. Pray and prophesy fruitfulness upon your life, family, work, etc.
2. Pray also that God will preserve you and your household.
