We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully. – Romans 12:6-8 (NIV)

Believers today have exalted some gifts above others. Some giftings have been made to look more attractive, hence, others are shunned and not sought after. However we see from Apostle Paul, the giftings are all classified as the same importance.

Prophecy, Service, Teaching, Encouragement, Giving, Leadership and showing Mercy are all equally important in the body of Christ. We do ourselves great disfavour by shunning our God-given gifts in search of others that look more glamorous. For instance, the Church usually relegates service to lesser ranking members of the community.

Today I want to debunk that notion. Isaiah 58:10 (ESV) declares; “If you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.”

Each gift is as important as the other; they are all needed and they all attract the favour of God. I encourage you to identify what God is calling you into and use it to His glory.

Pray this:

Lord open my eyes and show me new opportunities to apply my gifts in Jesus’ name. Amen
