Topic: IF THE ROOT IS NOT IN YOU
Romans 8:2 (NKJV)
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
The Greek word translated “law” in our theme Scripture also means, “work and effect.” Apostle Paul affirmed and declared his personal freedom from the work and effect of sin.
How about you and me? Can we also affirm our faith in Christ Jesus and make the same declaration? Do you have a personal revelation of our freedom from the work and effect of sin? Are you conscious of the effect of the Spirit of life at work in you? To be in Christ Jesus means, the Blood of Jesus has washed away the sin nature, which is the root, the source, and the cause of all misery. As if that was not enough, it also means, the Spirit of God has imparted a new nature, called the righteousness of God, and a new life to your spirit. You’re made free from the work and effect of sin and death, as a result of the work and effect of the Spirit of life. Therefore, sin does not have dominion over you once you’re in Christ Jesus; and if the root is not in you, the fruits of sin must not be on you either.
The fruits of sin are all the misery that sin brought to humankind, ranging from poverty and sickness, to death. If the root is not in you, then, the fruits must not be on you! You must personalize this revelation and declare like Apostle Paul, that, “…the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, has made me free from the law of sin and death.” Hallelujah!
