Topic: Our Response to Soul Winning II
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
We established in yesterday’s devotional that it is one thing knowing about soul winning, and another, engaging in it. Our response to the message of soul winning is very crucial to the results we get as soul winners. Our first response should be “self-repentance”. We need to first take out the beam in our eyes to see clearly enough to clean others’eyes (Matthew 7:5).
Another response is that we must have our minds stirred up by the Holy Ghost to be in remembrance of the main assignment – Saving the lost from the coming judgement (2 Corinthians 5:10-11). We must be focused. Our priorities must be set right (Matthew 6:33). There can be no sustained aggressive evangelism without an indepth understanding of the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20).
Also, all believers must be mindful of the Word of God. Though not all Christians are called to be pulpit evangelist all are called to share the greatest testimony of their lives – Salvation. Our “selves” should not create a barrier between us and the souls. The Word of God should be our guide and encouragement.
1. Pray that the Holy Ghost will constantly remind you of the Great Commission.
2. Pray for the humility that will let you set aside your personhood, and seek souls.
