Pray in Faith

Pray in Faith

By Bishop Charles Agyinasare

James 1:6-7 (GNT)

“But when you pray, you must believe and not doubt at all. Whoever doubts is like a wave in the sea that is driven and blown about by the wind.”

Fasting is one of the pillars of the Christian faith. However, fasting with prayers minus faith is useless. The scripture above states that “you must believe”. In other words, faith is a must when we pray.

Having doubts in the midst of fasting and prayer is like pouring acid on your prayer request just after you have offered it.

In the ministry of Jesus, even after several hours of praying, He could not help the people of His home town because of their doubt or lack of faith (Mark 6:6).

Doubt robbed the whole town of God’s best, and doubt will rob any believer of God’s bestfor him.

Let’s take a look at 3 ways of overcoming doubt during this important season of fasting and prayer:

1. Resist doubt

The Bible says in James 4:7b, “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” Since the Devil is a major agent who sows seeds of doubt in our minds, the only chance we have against him is to put him on the run by resisting him when he suggests doubt to our minds.

2. Speak the word

Beloved, the only cure for doubt is faith.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 4:13,

“We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;”

So, as you resist the Devil, look for scriptures that cover what you are believing God for, and keep speaking them to yourself, to God and to the Devil.

3. Come to God in confidence

The Bible says in Isaiah 65:24 (NKJV)

“It shall come to pass that before they call, I will answer; And while they are still speaking, I will hear.”

This means, when we come before the Lord, it’s not a matter of “trial and error”, for the Bible says, God will answer even before we ask. That should be your confidence: that what you pray for will be granted.

Precious one, as you pray in faith during this period of fasting and prayer, your prayer will be effectual and fervent, and it will produce results like never before.

Heavenly Father, as I bind the spirit of doubt, fear, and unbelief around me, and release the spirit of faith , let my prayers be answered speedily, in Jesus’ name, Amen
