Month Theme: The Anointing

Topic: Producing Edifying Results

Scripture Reading: 2 Peter 1:1-10

Main Text:

2 Peter 1:8

For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

There are several attributes of character, which must be found in the life of someone who has the anointing. The anointing that functions to the glory of God and makes impact on others is a manifestation of charisma (gifts or power) and character. We discovered in an earlier devotional that godly virtues must be added to one another to produce edifying results.

There are seven areas of character I prescribe for anyone who desires to operate with a structured anointing. A person who seeks to be fruitful by exercising his or her anointing must be: 1. Holy. 2. Hospitable. 3. Honest. 4. Hardworking. 5. Harmonious. 6. Humble. 7. Honourable.

In 2 Peter 1:5-7, the apostle Peter is saying we should not rest on our oars. Don’t say “I have mountain moving faith and that’s enough”. Add virtue (moral excellence), knowledge, temperance (self-control), patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and charity to your faith.

Prayer: Pray for yourself that you’ll never miss an opportunity to grab a good virtue.
