Month Theme: The Jubilee
Topic: Sound the Jubilee
Scripture Reading: Leviticus 25:8-13
9 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.
The statements, “shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound” and “shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land”, mean the people of Israel had the responsibility to sound the trumpet. A continuous sounding of a horn signalled the unconditional release of the oppressed. The Jubilee was the year at the end of seven cycles of sabbatical years. It was the fiftieth year.
The Bible enjoins us to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. This is like sounding the Jubilee trumpet (Psalm 66:1-7). Blowing the horn of Jubilee is comparable with “loosing” the blessings of God upon the land. If we don’t “loose” the blessings, they don’t flow. What we “bind” on earth is bound in Heaven and what we “loose” on earth is loosed in Heaven. Heaven works in partnership with the earth to release our blessings (Matthew 18:18-20).
We must use our voices and instruments to release the liberating sound of the Jubilee. The Jubilee trumpet did not sound on its own accord. We err when we think things will happen even if we do nothing – we must proclaim our Jubilee before it happens. If the time of the Jubilee arrived but no one sounded the trumpet, there would be no freedom.
Prayer: Pray and declare the release of your blessings.
