STAND OUT 2
One of the servants said to Saul, “One of Jesse’s sons from Bethlehem is a talented harp player. Not only that—he is a brave warrior, a man of war, and has good judgment. He is also a fine-looking young man, and the Lord is with him.” 1 Samuel 16:18 NLT
We will continue our consideration of David’s rise from the wilderness as a shepherd boy into the palace.
How did David stand out and end up in the royal palace? Let’s look at the final set of attributes that opened the door for David.
4. He was a man of war.
David was a man of war, a warrior both physically and spiritually; often consulting God before making major decisions.
1 Thess.5:17 admonishes, “Never stop praying.” Never stop engaging in spiritual warfare, as our weapons now are not carnal, but mighty through Christ to accomplish all your goals.
5. David had good judgement, with strong appreciation of timing, seasons, expectations and discretion. In 1 Chronicles 12:32, the Bible says, the men of Issachar understood the times and knew what to do and by this they directed the entire Israel in war. With good and sound judgement and understanding of seasons, you take the relevant steps at the approprate time for your rising.
6. He trusted and relied on God.
To stand out and make impact, you have to trust in God and build a strong fellowship with Him through His Word, worship, prayer and service.
“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 NLT
I declare, may you stand out amongst men; may your strength be renewed as you trust in God, and may He grant you the attributes and grace to set you apart for greatness. I bless you in Jesus’ name. Amen!
