THE FIGHT OF FAITH
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
1 TIMOTHY 6:12
The only fight we are permitted to fight as Christians is the fight of faith, and refusing to fight this faith fight makes you a miserable Christian. In Mark 11:23 you will find the phrase “…. say unto this mountain…”, which means that everyone has a mountain to fight, and God is saying that it is not His responsibility to move this mountain for you.
This particular message came as a result of Jesus cursing a certain fig tree at a time when He wanted to pluck some fruits on that tree but found none on it. The Bible did not actually mention that Jesus cursed the fig tree; all He said was that “…no man eat of your fruits hereafter” but the writer of this gospel considered it as cursing. The word ‘curse’ here means, to reverse something and prevent it from advancing.
Anytime things seem to be retrogressing in your life, it’s a form of a curse, and so you must deal with it. Jesus cursed the fig tree to death, and the reason he did that was that the tree was supposed to give him some fruits and he found none on it, and that was a mockery.
The principle Jesus is teaching us here is that anytime something appears to be a mockery in your life; you must curse it to death. Sickness is a mockery, the marital delay is a mockery, poverty is a mockery… and so you must curse them to death; you must not permit them to stay alive in your life.
• Begin to reverse any negative thing in your life that seems to mock at you right now!
• Anything that hinders your growth is a curse.
