Revelation 1:5 (KJV)

And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Jesus Christ loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own Blood! That’s what our theme Scripture reveals. Isn’t that wonderful?

You’ll never appreciate the power in the Blood of Jesus until you get the full picture of what sin really is. When Adam sinned, not only did he lose his authority over the earth, he also inherited the sin nature from Satan, the originator of sin, and passed on that nature through his seed, to all his descendants. The sin nature is a rebellious nature which makes the sinner have the resemblance of a leper in his spirit. In other words, sin, if it has not been washed away, makes you look in your spirit what the leper looks in his/her physical body. And since God didn’t create sin as part of His handiwork, He does not countenance it in His Kingdom! What Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:3, is confirmation that, no matter how great you are in society, and no matter who you are, your access to the Kingdom of God is only possible when the sin nature in you is washed away. “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God” (John 3:3, KJV).

The universal law of God is that, sin cannot be washed away unless blood is shed (Hebrews 9:22). Unfortunately, Adam’s blood was contaminated with sin, and for that matter, every descendant of Adam is born into this world with sin-contaminated blood. Under the law of Moses, the blood of animals couldn’t wash away sins; it could only cover sin for a year, after which there was a rehearsal of sins (Hebrews 10:3-4). It could only take human blood to wash away the sin nature from humankind, because an animal cannot be a perfect substitute for human beings. Thus, man was hopeless without a Saviour. But thank God, Jesus was born into this world without the sin nature, and therefore His Blood was not contaminated with sin. All the detergents one could ever use couldn’t wash away sin from the spirit of humans, but the Blood of Jesus has been proven to be efficacious to wash away sins. That’s why I call it, “The greatest detergent.”

Jesus washed us from our sins in His own Blood! This is so, for those who have believed the gospel and have confessed Jesus as Lord! Have you done so?
