Theme: The Relevant Church

Topic: The Place of Hope

Scripture Reading:
Acts 8:5-13

Main Text
Acts 8:8
8 And there was great joy in that city.

The peace we see in the world is the result of the presence of the Church. If the Church is removed from the earth total chaos will result. We are indeed the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5:13). The Great Commission transforms the land. The Gospel makes people heavenly minded and empowers them to change the world (1 Corinthians 2:12-16).

A relevant church is a place of hope. It is the house of mercy to which the afflicted run and take refuge. Unfortunately a lot of people battered by the world enter the church only for their situation to be made worse either because we attribute all their problems to their own sins or curses. Some may even be told that in order for all their problems to be solved, they need to pay some money but often these are poor people looking for the comfort of the Spirit.

The world denies the fact that transformed lives have a direct impact on the physical development in the land. Nevertheless, the Church is God’s representative on earth that has the power to release His blessings. We must fulfil our prophetic role with grace.

1. Pray that God will use you to give others hope.
2. Pray for the grace to add to the peace the presence of the Church has brought to the world.
