THE PRAYER OF JESUS (Daily Preservation) By Sam Korankye Ankrah
THE PRAYER OF JESUS
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil…”
Matthew 6:13 KJV
Evil is very real and prevalent in the world. Turn on the news and you will see a trend; corruption, genocide, systematic deception, terrorism, and kidnappings are the order of the day. Governments are fighting and threatening each other with war.
In our micro setting, we can point out greed, hatred, armed robbery, organised fraud that causes people to fear in their own homes and for their families. It is naive to think all these things are foreign concepts which are far away from you. Evil is real!
Jesus, in teaching us how to pray, calls our attention to these happenings and reminds us that we must pray against them. The Greek rendition of the word evil in our scripture above translates to malicious and calamitous. There are unseen forces that are constantly plotting harm and disaster against us and our families.
Proverbs 4:16-17 says: “For they do not sleep unless they have done evil; And their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.”
Today we plead the blood of Jesus on ourselves and our families and we come against any evil that will draw nigh our dwelling place. May the Lord lift up a standard against the wicked. Any negative intent they have against us, may it backfire and may their weapons be rendered useless.
I invoke the Word of God over you and I declare, you and everyone you love shall be delivered from evil in the name of Jesus!
