WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH THIS JESUS? BY SAM KORANKYE ANKRAH
Glory to God for His daily provision and for ushering us into a new month.
“So when they had gathered, Pilate said to them, “whom do you want me to release for you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”” Matthew 27:17
Our text gives us insight into the events leading to the crucifixion of Jesus.
Under the Jewish law, amnesty ought to be granted on the day of the Passover. One prisoner must of necessity be released. Pilate presented Jesus and Barabbas and asked the people to make a choice. The people desired to release Barabbas and destroy Jesus, despite His innocence. Barabbas was the criminal, yet he was set free.
This week, I want us to dwell on some of the negative voices that influenced Pilate in his decision. Often in our daily endeavours we are influenced by same which makes us err.
The voice of public opinion led Pilate to crucify Jesus. According to the Bible; Pilate knew the people wanted Jesus killed out of envy. Yet, Pilate wanted to please the people so wouldn’t defend Jesus. Anytime you allow public opinion to influence you instead of the Word of God, you betray Jesus. Living a godly life should be by the Word of God.
Today, you’re being asked what you’ll do with this Jesus (betray Him or defend Him). Remember that next time it would be Jesus on his throne asking what He’ll do with you, a sinner.
Pray with me;
Dear Father, by the blood of Jesus we overcome negative voices that cause us to betray you and we ask for the grace to workout our salvation in Christ Jesus. In Jesus’ name we pray.
