Topic: WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD
Exodus 12:12-13 (KJV)
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
Blood was a token in the Old Testament, and remains a token even in the New Testament. A token is an outward sign, a symbol, or an emblem.
When the Passover instruction was given to the Israelites the night before they exited Egypyt, the blood on the two side posts and on the upper doorpost of their houses was a token to give them exemption from what the rest of Egypt would suffer. The verse 13 of our theme Scripture says, “And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and WHEN I SEE THE BLOOD, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” Likewise, when Jesus instituted the Holy Communion the night before He died, He instructed us to drink His Blood, symbolized by the Cup of the New Testament in His Blood. We have established in our previous devotion, that, drinking the Blood of Jesus is just like striking the two side posts and the upper doorpost of one’s house with the Blood of the Lamb. Bear in mind, that, biblically, Egypt was a symbol of the world. Meaning, even in the New Testament, God would want to see the Blood of Jesus, to exempt us from what the people of the world suffer.
Are you marked by the Blood of Jesus? When was the last time you partook of the Holy Communion? This is your right of exemption! Don’t let anyone rob you of your right and privilege in Christ!
