SCRIPTURE READINGS: Matthew 18:18-20; 1 Peter 3:10; Proverbs 18:4; Job 22:28

The words of a person are inseparable from the person himself. The words that come out of a person determine who the person is. As believers, our spirit is regenerated. The Spirit of God also bears witness with our spirits that we are the children of God. Hence, we have received the power to declare the will of God and the mind of God in situations. God values what we say so dearly and acts upon it.

For this reason, a believer should ensure that whatever he/she says blesses others. The believer should not curse. Also the words that proceed from the mouth of the believer should build and not destroy. It should be positive and not negative. The statements we make concerning ourselves or others carry so much weight. Scripture says that life and death lie in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat its fruit.

In our prayers, speech, conversations etc., we must always declare the goodness of God upon our lives. When we declare God’s Word concerning a situation, it carries the same power as God Himself speaking. God’s word in our mouths is as powerful as God’s word in His own mouth.

For example, these are some of the words or statements that should proceed from our mouth: “I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord.” “I am the head and not the tail.” The more we make such declarations, God sees to it that these are fulfilled in our lives. However, if we make negative statements, we will see the manifestation of negative things.

My mouth will declare the goodness of the Lord and only what God’s Word says concerning me. Amen.
